Europcar is established in Paris.
1970
Renault buys Europcar.
1973
Agreements with National (USA) and Tilden (Canada) announced in 1997. 
1981
Creation of two divisions: Europcar France and Europcar International.
1988
Europcar is bought by the Wagons-Lits Company.
1988
Volkswagen acquires 50% of Europcar (Wagons-Lits shares).
1991
Accor becomes a 50% shareholder in Europcar.
1994
Launch of the new information and reservation computer system: Greenway.
1999
Accor sells its participation in Europcar to Volkswagen, which becomes the 100% shareholder.
2000
Accor signs a long-term partnership with Europcar.
2001
The September 11 attacks block the group’s growth, but Europcar stands firm with a short-term recovery plan.
2002
Europcar and Delta Air Lines conclude a partnership agreement.
2003
Signature of a partnership with EasyJet.
2004
Europcar is voted the “Best car renter” in Europe by Business Traveller magazine, based on comments made by frequent international travellers.
Europcar is voted “Car rental leader in Europe” during the World Travel Awards ceremony in New York
2005
Partnership agreement between Europcar and Thalys.
2006
Europcar becomes a 100% subsidiary company of Eurazeo.
